That's not all folks!

Things are still happening behind the scenes - come back in a day or two. By Wednesday, there would have been major decisions made and, we will be fully ready for...

…production. I am currently involved with some discussion with a group who may be able to assist in producing the video wikinews on a weekly (and in the future daily) basis. This is not in cement but, there is some interest.

I'm really sorry I haven't been on any of the wiki’s recently for that long as I was going to - my PC was being upgraded + then, the night before I get it back, our wireless router was zapped by a lightning surge (does god hat me?) so, I'm on dialup - extra bad for someone with little patience

Also, if you or any of your relatives / friends who live in Washington who;

* Are under the age of 45 and willing to interview someone

or

* Have a video camera

could you please visit http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Video_Wikinews/2.0/Emergency and add your username so we can contact you about an important task we need help with.

Clear *Boom* ... he's back again!

Hey everyone! Haven't been to the blog recently, had a lot of work on my plate!

I have created the youtube channel for wikinews vidoe at http://www.youtube.com/videowikinews. It is slowly forming but, right now, we're focussing on the content. THe graphics are almost entirely out of the way. There are a few stories we are looking into including,

  • The treatment of muslem youth in our society
  • Crazy old lady sues NASA

The final version of the wikinews logo has been relesed! It is similar to its predacessor but, has a slight change in its color and has removed a line. This is a promotional poster, comtaining the logo (I can't be bothered looking for the logo on its own)

As a final correction, our email is video_wikinews@hotmail.com

Video 3.0

Video 3.0 was created by Jason and produced by  Zachary . They've done a really good job! It's nice and simple and I still really interesting (what's the name of that song?)

Well Done!

And the winner is...

And the winner for the official video wikinews logo is...

Congratulations! The image was picked because of its obious affiliation with wikinews and, its simplicity.

Graphics 3.0

Hey everyone!

I've just finished graphics 3.0. It is 3 megabytes in size but, will impress you! It shows how interveiws could be held / stills or anything needing a frame can be shown. The video which is being used is similar to what we are hoping to get to eventually... a fair and well balanced debate which has much courtesy and respect for the opposite party (aka the interviewee0

Hope you enjoy it. Leave a comment on the yak page with what you think!

Wow, too much text!

Hey everyone!

There have been a few changes with the second version of the video. The theme song has been changed. We've have emailed a few people to see if they can produce a song specially made. I (personally) am really hooked on the theme song of the origional video but, it is obiously not going to work because, it is copyrighted :'(

We're still looking for other songs and are not confined to the two songs that are already looking at.

The graphics for the news will hopefully be completed by the 12th which will then allow us to work on the actual content (ie. stories)

We've come to the conclusion that for the near future, there will be no daily news, rather a 60minutes style program while, we are looking for permenant producers, editors and newsreaders.

If there is a database large enough, users could form minigroups and could be rostered to have turns so, in the event that one user can't meet their commitments, another can step in.

We also would need to set up an "emergency" plan in the event, there is one group of people (ie. editors or newsreaders) missing. In this case, we could drop back from industry standard to homemade edition - webcams **user shivers**

A possibility is universities - they get a feeling for production and the responsibilities imposed while, wikinews are provided with a service.

If any user is keen on being part of this program, in the future, the project may apply for grants. Grants usually need a dollar for dollar commitment - this would mean if a user wants to buy hardware / sotware, they can at half the price in returen for a continued service for a set abount of time.

Happy Easter (sorry, I meant to say it yesterday) and I hope you are having fun on wikinews.

Interesting Facts

I thought you might want to know how the video was made, what images were used and some details you might have missed, enjoy!

  • The opener was made up entirely of still images
  • There were 15 images used in the video
  • The audio is the SKY news theme song
  • The sky behind the Japanese building 10 seconds in is actually a cloud of pollution from a picture in bangkok, flipped upside down
  • The colour of the background alternates in each scene between orange and blue.
  • Every scene with a blue background has the wikinews logo hidden somewhere within it

Welcome!

I'd like to personally wecome you to vidoe wikinews's official new home!

This project has been a long time in the running however, this time, there seems to be an immediate interest and, we have learnt quite a bit from last time.

The project's official email is video_wikinews@hotmail.com for all of you who want to ask a question or, need somewhere to go.

This page, the email address and the project is being coordinated by user symode09. Our official project page is, http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinews:Video_Wikinews/2.0

I've created the opening for wikinews. It is not final so, if there are any improvements or changes you think should happen, add a comment somewhere on our project page
